In early Janurary, Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti and Erica Herman, Women in Distress' director of social change and agency advisor to PEARR, filmed a 30-second public safety announcement titled "Zero Tolerance for Domestic Violence."On Jan. 24, the Sheriff's Office held a press conference to release the public service announcement to the media and to Sheriff's Office deputies.
The partnership between the Sheriff's Office and Women In Distress came about because Broward County has seen a 300 percent increase in domestic violence homicides since last year.
Both agencies want victims of domestic violence to know that there is help out there.
